Mr O A Ahmed
Mr Ahmed originally trained in Orthopaedic Surgery, before moving to plastic surgery. He started training in plastic surgery in 1994, at Mount Vernon Hospital, Northwood, and subsequently worked in several UK centres before completing his training in 2004.
Ahmed decided at an early stage of his training that he would like to specialise in Head and Neck Surgery and reanimation of the paralysed face, as he found these fields to be both technically challenging and highly rewarding.
He trained in Head and Neck Surgical Oncology at Guy's and St Thomas' Hospitals, London and at the Ulster Hospital, Belfast. In February 2005, he took up his current post as a Consultant Plastic, Reconstructive and Head & Neck Surgeon at the Royal Victoria Infirmary, Newcastle upon Tyne. His clinical practice includes head and neck cancer, facial paralysis, and skin cancer.
Ahmed's main research interests include improving functional and aesthetic outcomes of patients with head and neck cancer and facial paralysis.
